Message from Mayor Gierisch

We kicked off our 2023 events season with  Roanoke Roundup on May 6th. Thousands of people visited historic downtown Roanoke, enjoyed great food, an incredible concert, and raised a generous amount of money for charity. Thank you to all who joined us!

I was honored to participate in the annual National Day of Prayer event in Trophy Club on May 4th. I attended alongside the Mayors of Westlake and Trophy Club, the Roanoke Fire Department color guard, and many members of our community.

Roanoke was highlighted in the Texas Monthly Summer Travel Guide! The guide states "Roanoke has seamlessly blended historic, small- town charm with all of the amenities of a vibrant big city." I couldn't agree more! Click here to read the article.

During the May 9, 2023 Roanoke City Council meeting, I had the honor of leading  three members of Council in their oath of office. Brian Darby, Council Member Ward 2, Holly Gray-Moore, Mayor Pro Tem Ward 1, and David Brundage, Council Member Ward 3 all took the oath during the Roanoke City Council meeting. I thank all of our elected officials for their continued work to serve the citizens of Roanoke.

The Public Works Department has begun improvements on two blocks of Roanoke Streets- Denton St. and Houston St. between Oak St. and Walnut St. The project aims to improve the drainage system and walkability by installing new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks along the streets. The project should be complete in late November 2023. I have been continually tracking TXDOT proposed projects in and around Roanoke. Roanoke staff attended a TXDOT public input meeting on May 11th. The City will update you as we learn more about impacts to traffic in Roanoke.

My lovely wife and I look forward to seeing you enjoying one of our 9 beautiful parks, one of our 60+ dining options, or strolling through beautiful historic Roanoke.

Message from City Manager Cody Petree

As the City of Roanoke continues to grow, we continue to find creative ways to serve the community. Our staff has welcomed a new addition to the team, Michael Davenport, Special Events Supervisor. We also are happy to announce both Annett Meadows, Roanoke Police Officer, and Ethan Powell, Roanoke Firefighter/EMT, have both been promoted to full time.

We are proud of all of the great businesses in our community. This month, we celebrate with The Classic Café at Roanoke and Babe's Chicken Dinner House as they mark 30 years of business in Roanoke! In addition, Italian Bistro celebrated their 20th business anniversary. The Unique Dining Capital of Texas continues to welcome new restaurants, plenty of great retail, office facilities and much more. You visit this page on our website to learn more about current building projects in Roanoke.

Over the last month, we filmed 3 commercials highlighting Roanoke. The first commercial will be used to promote economic development in the community. The second will encourage visitors to spend time in the Unique Dining Capital of Texas. The third will highlight Roanoke's award winning special events. We hope to have the commercials ready to share with you some time this summer. Thank you to the businesses who participated in our filming, and to our residents for supporting efforts to promote our great city.

The Roanoke team aims to see to fruition the goals of our Mayor and Council, and to continue to lead the talented and dedicated staff of our great City.

Employee Spotlight : Alicia Holston

Each month we wish to introduce you to one of our incredible staff members. This month, our spotlight is on Alicia Holston. Alicia is the Roanoke Public Library Assistant Manager. She has worked with the Library for more than 8 years. When asked what she loves most about her job, Alicia responded, "Helping people get the resources they need and want. I love when people are happy!"

Outside of work, Alicia enjoys reading (of course), playing ukulele, attending Irish music sessions, and playing games. A fun fact about Alicia: at one point in her life, she worked for a circus! Be sure to say hello to Alicia next time you see her serving our great City.
