Message from Mayor Gierisch
We kicked off our 2023 events season with Roanoke Roundup on May 6th. Thousands of people visited historic downtown Roanoke, enjoyed great food, an incredible concert, and raised a generous amount of money for charity. Thank you to all who joined us!
I was honored to participate in the annual National Day of Prayer event in Trophy Club on May 4th. I attended alongside the Mayors of Westlake and Trophy Club, the Roanoke Fire Department color guard, and many members of our community.
Roanoke was highlighted in the Texas Monthly Summer Travel Guide! The guide states "Roanoke has seamlessly blended historic, small- town charm with all of the amenities of a vibrant big city." I couldn't agree more! Click here to read the article.
During the May 9, 2023 Roanoke City Council meeting, I had the honor of leading three members of Council in their oath of office. Brian Darby, Council Member Ward 2, Holly Gray-Moore, Mayor Pro Tem Ward 1, and David Brundage, Council Member Ward 3 all took the oath during the Roanoke City Council meeting. I thank all of our elected officials for their continued work to serve the citizens of Roanoke.
The Public Works Department has begun improvements on two blocks of Roanoke Streets- Denton St. and Houston St. between Oak St. and Walnut St. The project aims to improve the drainage system and walkability by installing new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks along the streets. The project should be complete in late November 2023. I have been continually tracking TXDOT proposed projects in and around Roanoke. Roanoke staff attended a TXDOT public input meeting on May 11th. The City will update you as we learn more about impacts to traffic in Roanoke.
My lovely wife and I look forward to seeing you enjoying one of our 9 beautiful parks, one of our 60+ dining options, or strolling through beautiful historic Roanoke.
