Board Overview
The Keep Roanoke Beautiful Board is an advisory board to the City Council. The board makes recommendations to the staff liaison, votes on these recommendations, and then they are presented to the City Council for final approval.
Board Mission
Foster resident awareness of the important role each of us plays in preserving the natural beauty of our city while demonstrating environmental stewardship.
- Educate - Provide our community with the knowledge and tools needed to develop and maintain a sustainable natural environment.
- Beautify - Promote and oversee community projects that will maintain and enhance the natural beauty of Roanoke.
- Volunteer - Increase interest and participation in community projects.
- Engagement - Coordinate and leverage community resources.

Now Accepting Applications
The City of Roanoke is accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Keep Roanoke Beautiful Board. To be eligible, individuals must be 18 years of age or older, a registered voter and a resident of the City of Roanoke for at least one year. The Board is composed of eight members: President, Vice President, Secretary and five Board Members. All positions are appointed by Roanoke City Council for a two-year staggered term. Meetings occur on the first Wednesday of the month. Available board positions: one unfinished term seat (ending January 2024) and two full term seats (ending January 2025).
The Keep Roanoke Beautiful Board is an advisory board to the Roanoke City Council. The board makes recommendations to the staff liaison, votes on these recommendations, and then they are presented to the City Council for final approval. Participation is highly encouraged to ensure the success of the Board. Possible Keep Roanoke Beautiful projects may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Community garden
- Crud Cruiser hazardous waste collection
- Adopt a Highway program
- Paper shred day
- Community tree planting
- Christmas tree recycling
- Representing Keep Roanoke Beautiful at City events
